That “salon feel” that the Russian Chamber Orchestra brought to the Noontime Concerts™ series at Old St. Mary’s Cathedral about a month ago was perpetuated today in the piano recital given by Jonathan Edward Mann. There was considerable diversity across the selections he had prepared and a sense that the entire affair should be both diverting and entertaining. It may also be that Mann was determined to pull together an assortment of selections that no one in the audience had previously heard; and, as far as any conscious effort towards serious listening was concerned, in my case he missed out with only two pieces that I recognized.
