10 STRINGS is a Bay Area-based duo that brings together the artistry of virtuoso violinist Heeguen Song and guitarist Mark Simons, combining their distinct backgrounds into a seamless musical collaboration. With a repertoire that spans classical, contemporary, and global influences, they create dynamic and engaging performances that captivate audiences of all kinds.

Native of South Korea, Heeguen Song is Associate Concertmaster of the SF Ballet Orchestra and appears regularly in venues across South Korea and the Bay Area, including the Seoul Arts Center, Herbst Theater and Bing Concert Hall. As an active chamber musician, Heeguen is a member of Beaubliss Quartet and Ensemble Ari, and has appeared at the Yale Chamber Music Society, Osaka City Hall and Daejeon Chamber Music Festival among others. A prize winner of the Henryk Szeryng International Competition, Heeguen made her solo debut at Weil Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall and has appeared as a soloist with SF Ballet Orchestra, Ensemble 212, Oberlin Orchestra and others.

Mark Simons is a leading Bay Area guitarist and sixteen-year veteran of the groundbreaking San Francisco Guitar Quartet. He has released five critically acclaimed albums, including the solo album, “Blue in Green” Fulbright Scholar in Guitar Performance, Mark has earned degrees with distinction from prestigious institutions including the New England Conservatory of Music, Tufts University, the University of Southern California, and the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University. He currently runs his own music enterprise, “San Francisco Guitar Studio,” and serves on the faculties of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Laney College, and both the Peralta and Contra Costa Community College districts.

Together, 10 STRINGS offers a rich and expressive musical experience, showcasing the unique possibilities of violin and guitar in harmony.
