A rising young concert pianist from San Francisco, Serene enjoys presenting the life-changing beauty and power of classical music with diverse audiences. Serene is a Shigeru Kawai Artist. She has “magically enthralled audiences” in a wide spectrum of venues ranging from the Vienna Musikverein to Golden Gate Park, to the inside of a decommissioned Boeing 747.
Although Serene never attended conservatory, she is now being invited to solo with orchestras, and made her debut in April 2018 with the San Francisco Civic Symphony, performing Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 to a sold-out house at Herbst Theatre. Serene first encountered the piano at age five and discovered an immediate connection. Over the years, Serene has studied independently and with mentors, including John McCarthy, Jim McCormick, Albert Frantz, and Gergely Bogányi.
Prior to embarking on her current trajectory as a next-generation pianist, Serene studied computer science at Carnegie Mellon University, graduated one year early with university honors, and moved to Manhattan to work for Google as a software engineer while living on a sailboat. Soon after she left to focus on piano full-time, and has not looked back since. Her online following has been rapidly growing, and you can follow her musical journey on Instagram: @serenepianist
