Program Notes

Oliver Moore (b. 2001, Chico, CA) is a pianist currently living in San Francisco. Oliver completed his undergraduate and graduate studies under the tutelage of Garrick Ohlsson at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and previously studied with John McCarthy. In September 2026, he will join the New World Symphony in Miami, FL, as one of the orchestra’s two piano fellows for the 2026-2027 season.

Oliver has been featured as a soloist with orchestras including the Bear Valley Festival Orchestra, North State Symphony, Hollywood Chamber Orchestra, and the SF Conservatory of Music Orchestra as the winner of their 2025 Piano Concerto Competition. In July 2023, he presented a recital of works and transcriptions by Liszt, Busoni, Saint-Saëns, and Brahms, inspired by Bach and Handel, for the San Francisco Bach Festival. He was nominated for Favorite New Discovery at the San Francisco Classical Voice Audience Choice Awards. Oliver has performed at venues such as the U.S.-Polish Embassy in Washington, D.C., the Lied Center of Kansas, the San Francisco War Memorial Performing Arts Center, the 405 Shrader Concert Series, and the Redlands Bowl, where he was the winner of the Redlands Bowl Concerto Competition.

Oliver has played in master classes for musicians including Jonathan Biss, Richard Goode, Yoheved Kaplinsky, Arie Vardi, and Shai Wosner, and participated in an orchestral reading with conductor Michael Tilson Thomas. Oliver is the principal keyboardist of the Monterey Symphony.

Oliver’s repertoire spans from Bach, Scarlatti, Mozart, and Beethoven to the Romantic repertoire. He was a semifinalist in the U.S. National and Kosciuszko Foundation Chopin Competitions. Also passionate about new music, Oliver has performed works by composers such as Thomas Adès, Meredith Monk, and Morton Feldman.
