Justin Ouellet
Having collaborated with some of the world’s leading players including Wayne Lin, Emil Miland, Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, as well as members of the Rawlins Trio, Alexander & Hausmann Quartets, Justin Ouellet is quickly garnering a reputation as a top performer of chamber, orchestral and contemporary repertoire. He has worked with an array of conductors including the award-winning Gerard Schwarz, John McLaughlin Williams, and Arnie Roth. As an orchestral & chamber musician, Justin has performed throughout the United States in halls such as Carnegie Hall in NYC, Boston’s Symphony Hall, Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, and internationally in the countries of Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Netherlands, Puerto Rico & Switzerland. Residencies, fellowships and summer festivals include the Atlantic Music Festival, Eastern Music Festival, Festival of Youth Symphonies of Americas, St. Mark’s International Music Festival, PARMA New Music Festival, as well as the Philadelphia International Music Festival. Justin is in his fourth year on the faculty of the Oakland School for the Arts as co-director of orchestral studies and has continued his mission of expanding the chamber music and strings program. Justin will be returning for his third year to the Eastern Music Festival performing in the summer festival orchestra.
Karen Rosenak served as pianist and founding member of new music ensembles San Francisco-based Earplay, the Empyrean Ensemble at UC Davis, and performed with other Bay Area new music ensembles as well, including Left Coast and the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players. Retired from full-time teaching, but currently administering piano instruction part-time at UC Berkeley, she has continued to maintain an active performance schedule. Recent performances include West Edge’s Snapshot in Berkeley and San Francisco, and a presentation on the Clementi fortepiano in the DeBellis Collection at San Francisco State University. She performed a Haydn piano concerto with the New Esterhazy Quartet in March and coaches fortepiano in conjunction with their summer classical music workshop offered through SFEMS (San Francisco Early Music Society). Highlights of the 2017-18 season are an all Brahms concert at the Freight and Salvage along-side violist Ben Simon and contralto Karen Clark, Kurt Rhode’s “Death and a Knight’ with the Left Coast Chamber Ensemble, as well as recitals with Soprano Ann Moss and Baritone Igor Vieira.
