Liszt’s À la Chapelle Sixtine (In the Sistine Chapel) is a religious work based on two choral masterpieces, Allegri’s Miserere and Mozart’s beloved Ave Verum Corpus.  Chopin’s Fantasy on Polish Airs is a potpourri of various Polish folk tunes arranged as a single continuous work. It was originally for piano and orchestra. Liszt’s Andante Amoroso is a meditation on Berlioz’s “L’idée fixe” love theme from Symphonie Fantastique.  The program will conclude with Liszt’s infrequently performed virtuoso Fantasy on themes from Beethoven’s “Ruins of Athens.” As with Chopin’s Fantasy, it was composed for piano and orchestra, and Liszt later arranged it for piano solo. The work incorporates the familiar Turkish March, as well as additional choral and symphonic music.

Pianist Daniel Glover has performed throughout North and South America, Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean. Mr. Glover trained with Eugene List, Abbey Simon, Jerome Lowenthal, Nancy Bachus, and Thomas LaRatta. He holds a master’s degree from New York’s Juilliard School, where he was a scholarship student. He has served on the faculty of New York University, the  University of the Virgin Islands, the University of San Francisco, and Notre Dame de Namur. He made his New York Carnegie Recital Hall debut after winning the Artist’s International Competition and was the first prize winner in the Liederkranz Competition in New York City. He resides in San Francisco and is a sought-after soloist, adjudicator, and teacher. He has performed over 70 different concertos with orchestra on four continents. This includes three world premieres and modern revivals of works that have been neglected. He recently performed the Piano Concerto in D minor by Felix Borowski, a work that has not been performed since its 1914 premiere by the Chicago Symphony.  Lee Actor’s Piano Concerto No. 1 was composed for Mr. Glover and recorded by him with the Slovak National Symphony in 2015.  Mr. Glover was editor of four editions of Dover Publications of music by Dukas, Liszt, and Tchaikovsky. He has recorded eleven CDs and recently recorded the Borowski Concerto, Beryl Rubinstein Concerto in C, and Bloch Scherzo Fantasque with the Lithuanian National Symphony in Vilnius, Lithuania.  The Borowski and Rubinstein are world-premiere recordings and will be released on the Reference Recordings label.
