CARL BLAKE (piano) holds three degrees in piano performance: Bachelor of Music (magna cum laude) from Boston University, Master of Arts from San Jose State University, and Doctor of Musical Arts from Cornell University. Dr. Blake has performed three times in Weill Recital Hall (formerly, Carnegie Recital Hall) and has toured in Russia, France, England, Central and South America, and the Caribbean Islands as Artistic Ambassador for the United States Department of State. Currently, he serves as Director of Music of The Church for the Fellowship of All Peoples in San Francisco and Director of the newly founded piano school at R. Kassman Pianos (Berkeley).
Mr. Blake serves on the Board of Directors for Noontime Concerts SF.
DAN FLANAGAN (violin) currently serves as Concertmaster of the Sacramento Philharmonic and Opera, Concertmaster of the Modesto Symphony, Concertmaster of West Edge Opera, Concertmaster of Opera Paralléle, and Instructor of Violin at University of California, Berkeley. Described as a “stellar musician” (Nevada Reviews), he has been praised for his “exquisite tone” and “forthright brio” (Sacramento Bee), and his “violin… solos were excellent” (San Francisco Classical Voice).
Flanagan has performed as concertmaster with the Oakland Symphony, Santa Rosa Symphony, California Symphony, California Musical Theater, Festival Opera of Walnut Creek, Symphony Silicon Valley, and Symphony Napa Valley.
As a chamber musician, Flanagan has performed with the Chamber Music Society of Sacramento, the Oregon Bach Festival, Earplay, Midsummer Mozart Chamber Players, Gold Coast Chamber Players, and has collaborated with pianists Leon Fleisher and Jon Nakamatsu. He was a founding member of the Farallon Quintet and is currently a member of the Eco Ensemble. Currently, he is composing a piece commissioned by the Swedeborgian Church of San Francisco to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the church, which will be premiered in the spring of 2020.
Flanagan plays on a violin made in 1850 by JB Vuillaume, once owned by the celebrated American virtuoso Albert Spalding.
VICTORIA (Vicky) EHRLICH (cello) received musical education at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, the Academy of Santa Cecilia in Rome, Italy, and the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and summer programs at Interlochen, Aspen, and Tanglewood. Before joining the San Francisco Opera Orchestra in 1984, she performed with the Santa Fe Opera, and Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, and served as principal cellist with the Symphonies of Omaha, Richmond (VA) and Phoenix. Ms. Ehrlich has performed with the San Francisco Ballet and Symphony, New Century Chamber Orchestra, and is an active chamber musician, appearing regularly with the I.O. Piano Quartet, Edgewood Ensemble, the Bridge Players, the Fath Chamber Players, and the Ariel String Quartet.
