THE CECILIA CONSORT

The Cecilia Consort, (named in homage to the patron saint of music), was created in the spring of 2019. Its ad hoc roster is composed of some of the Bay Area’s finest vocalists and instrumentalists.  Performances in 2019 included an Evensong service at All Saints’ Episcopal Church in the Haight, (featuring music by Renaissance composers Edmund Hooper, John Sheppard, Peter Philips, Thomas Tallis, and William Byrd), and a Christmas concert of motets by Hans Leo Hassler, Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, and Tomás Luis de Victoria as well as a wide assortment of English and American carols.  This performance marks the Consort’s first post-pandemic appearance.
